It also adds a HUD similar to the one in Republic Commando, just so that you finally have a reason to go into first person while playing this game. An often overlooked bonus is the fact that you can play the regular Battlefront II campaign with Dark Times units, if you select the maps from the instant action menu, choose the "campaign" game mode and pick the Dark Times era.
Dark Times is a mod inspired by the game The Force Unleashed, and it adds a new era based on the Galactic Civil War, with randomized heroes (that participate in-game as AI), some randomized units, new maps, a new single player campaign, new space maps, new ships (with accurate first person cockpits), new game modes such as Wave, VIP and Control Points, a new combat system for the heroes and new force- powers. When looking for mods and maps for Battlefront II, you will see the name "Maveritchell" pop up a lot, this guy is very creative and dedicated, both to the game and to the community, and the Dark Times is his magnum opus.

The models and textures may be a bit out-dated, but overall it's still a solid gameplay mod even to this day.
